"As an emerging arts presenter, one of my critical needs is to build a network of domestic peers - both experienced arts professionals and emerging leaders in the field. This program offered me the fantastic opportunity to meet a great number of people in these categories. Building such a network gives me the opportunity to continually build my understanding of the music industry, with specific focus on presenting, in this country. The most important outcome of this experience is/was the 'immersion'. Taking four full days to intensively think about what we present and the way we present it as well as one's personal and professional trajectory is such a rare opportunity to be creative, innovative, and reflective.
Stefania Paterak, Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall, participant

"My experience in the TSP was amazing. The most important outcome of this experience was that I now feel connected to a strong peer group and am excited about our interaction in the future. I feel that this is only the beginning."
Sara Palmieri, Brock University Centre for the Performing Arts, participant

The TSP comprises two components embedded in the annual OCFF conference:

  1. One-on-one mentorship: Participants will work with two mentors from the national community throughout the weekend (2 hrs daily)
  2. Opportunities to network with peers in small and in larger groups to discuss the new realities of working in the arts and other relevant issues related to their work.

We encourage you to visit our website www.capacoa.ca or contact our Outreach and Membership Development Manager, Erin Barnhardt, at erin.barnhardt@capacoa.ca if you require further details about the program.

Following the OCFF Conference, the next edition of The Succession Plan program will take place during the CAPACOA annual conference from November 4-7, 2011 in Toronto, ON.

The CAPACOA conference is a four-day gathering of members and stakeholders from the national and international touring performing arts sector, with an emphasis on professional development, networking, and advocacy. The conference brings together over 200 cultural entrepreneurs and key industry stakeholders working in the national and International performing arts sector. The Succession Plan program is an integral component of the CAPACOA conference, as it creates links between emerging arts professionals, their peers and experts in the performing arts sector. The conference also includes an exhibit hall, live artistic performances, peer-to-peer meetings, keynote speakers, workshops and other activities that advance and unite the sector.
